Shipbuilding Marine Day, the best shipbuilding event of the shipbuilding industry which held in two years – Prime Minister's Commendation Awarded
 

Shipbuilding and Marine Day celebrates September 15, 1997, when orders which Korean Shipbuilding companies receive for the first time exceeded 10 million tons. It has been holding a ceremony to commemorate Shipbuilding Day since 2004 and has been renamed Shipbuilding and Marine Day since 2011. However, this year's event was held for the first time in two years. Last year, the shipbuilding industry experienced the worst-ever obtain the amount of order in history, and the commemoration ceremony was not held considering the industry's situation.
 
 
At the event, industry employees were awarded. Kim Young-Soo, managing director of Hanjin Heavy Industries, won the Dongtap Industrial Medal for developing and applying the construction method to build ships larger than the dock and the world's first method of construction which All Mounted of liquefied petroleum and gas cargo tank.
 
 
Hanil News CEO Kim In-shin won the Order of Industrial Service Merit. Hyundai Heavy Industries Senior Researcher Shin Hyun-Joon and Samsung Heavy Industries Minister Baek Seung-bae received a president's commendation. Kim Hyun-Joon, head of the Export-Import Bank of Korea, and Song Ki-Myung, vice-minister of shipbuilding in Korea, received a prime minister's commendation.
